Frequently asked

Everything you wanted to know about stadium work

How do I apply for a stadium job?

Pick a job listing, read the role and follow the link to the employer's application page. Most matchday roles are part-time/casual contracts, so you typically apply directly with the catering, hospitality or stewarding company that operates inside the ground.

Do I need previous experience to work at a stadium?

For most entry-level roles like bar staff, kiosk assistants, ushers or cleaning team, prior experience is not required. Stewarding roles usually require an SIA Door Supervisor or SIA Public Space Surveillance licence – or you'll be supported through an NVQ-level training programme to get one.

What does a typical matchday job pay?

Pay depends on the role and venue. For 2025/26, casual matchday roles in the UK typically pay between £12.21 and £15 per hour, with premium hospitality roles, supervisor roles and shifts at large London venues paying more.

Are stadium jobs only on matchdays?

No. Big venues like Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Old Trafford and the Principality Stadium also host concerts, rugby, NFL games, conferences and tours, so there is usually work outside the football season too.

Can students and 16–18 year-olds work at stadiums?

Yes. Many casual roles welcome students and people aged 18+. Some roles (e.g. bar work serving alcohol) require you to be over 18, while licensed stewarding roles usually require you to be 18+ with a valid SIA badge.

What documents do I need to apply?

You'll need proof of right to work in the UK (passport, BRP, or share code), bank details for payroll, and National Insurance number. Stewarding roles also require a valid SIA licence and may need an enhanced DBS check.

How quickly can I start?

Many employers run rolling recruitment ahead of the season and during big event spikes. For casual catering and stewarding roles, you can often go from application to first shift within 2–4 weeks once your right-to-work checks and (where relevant) SIA licence are in order.
