Open vacancy. Showsec is recruiting event stewards for the Etihad Stadium. This is an entry route into stadium event work — no SIA licence required for standard stewarding — with training provided before your first shift.
The stewarding contractor is almost never the football club. At the Etihad, crowd management for concerts and many event days sits with Showsec. Applying via Manchester City careers for a casual steward shift usually sends you to the wrong inbox.

What the role involves
- Ticket and accreditation checks at turnstiles and bowl access points.
- Wayfinding for fans with accessibility or first-aid needs across the Etihad Campus.
- Concourse and stand monitoring during Premier League, cup and European fixtures.
- Assisting with controlled egress after the final whistle or encore.
- Reporting incidents to supervisors via radio.
Who usually gets hired
- 18+ preferred; some junior steward roles accept 16+ with restrictions — check the live advert. Full age split: stadium jobs for 16 and 17 year olds.
- Right to work in the UK; basic DBS may be requested depending on deployment.
- Comfortable standing for long shifts and dealing with large crowds calmly.
- Available to arrive around three hours before published kick-off or doors, including midweek European nights and late concert finishes.
Pay and shift reality
- Typical band £12.71–£13.50/hour; overtime or long-event rates can apply on campus concerts.
- Football matchdays often run 8–10 hours; Co-op Live and stadium concerts can stretch later.
- Progression to SIA-licensed door supervisor or response roles is common after a season — Showsec runs internal training routes. Most unlicensed stewarding does not need a badge — do football stewards need an SIA licence?
Stadium Jobs tip
The campus is the advantage: Showsec also staffs non-football events next door at Co-op Live. Dual availability (Saturday football plus a midweek arena night) is how most people get enough hours. Travel via the Etihad Campus Metrolink stop; driving on event days is usually slower. If you already hold an SIA Door Supervisor licence, say so on the application.
