Open vacancy. Sodexo Live! is hiring casual matchday kitchen porters for St James’ Park’s 2026/27 season. Apply on Sodexo Jobs — NUFC’s club staff vacancies are listed separately.
St James’ Park is one of the few elite grounds inside a city centre, and its hospitality and concourse kitchens run hard from mid-morning on Premier League and European Saturdays. Kitchen porters keep the back-of-house moving so chefs and kiosk teams can hit half-time peaks.
What the role involves
- Washing up, pot-wash and basic kitchen cleaning during service.
- Clearing and resetting prep areas between service waves.
- Supporting deliveries, waste removal and end-of-shift kitchen shut-down.
- Following food-safety and health-and-safety procedures in a busy BOH environment.
Who usually gets hired
- 16+ for most kitchen support tasks (confirm age rules on the live advert).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Available for weekend and evening kick-offs across the season.
- Previous catering or kitchen porter experience helps but is not always required.
Pay and contract
- £13.45/hour on a casual matchday contract.
- Shifts tied to the fixture list — European nights and cup replays add hours in autumn and spring.
- Strong casuals are often recalled for hospitality and events teams at the same venue.
Stadium Jobs tip
Search Sodexo for “St James’ Park” or “Newcastle United”, not “NUFC club”. Front-of-house hospitality at the same ground is a different team: Hospitality Waiting Team – St James’ Park.
